I’m a proud Mérida native and co-owner of Merida Living Real Estate and Property Management 23, alongside my partner, Liz Marmolejo. Born and raised in this incredible city, Mérida is not only where I work, it’s the place I’m proud to call home and where I plan to stay. With over 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, I have developed a true passion for helping people buy and sell properties throughout Mérida, specializing in the Historic Centro, northern Mérida, and the Yucatán coast. I believe real estate should be handled with professionalism, structure, transparency, and a strong understanding of the legal and tax regulations surrounding every transaction. I’m committed to constantly learning and staying up to date so my clients can make informed decisions with confidence. I’m also proud to hold Yucatán State Real Estate License #58, a milestone that reflects my commitment to raising the standards of our profession.

For me, real estate isn’t just about selling properties, it’s about sharing the city and state I love while helping people make Mérida part of their own story. If I had to choose my favorite area of expertise, it would definitely be Mérida’s Historic Centro. What I love most about Centro is that no two properties are alike. Every home has its own architecture, character, and story and you truly never know what you might discover behind a seemingly simple façade. That uniqueness is what makes Centro so special to me. I lived in Centro for more than 27 years, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to live in different areas of Mérida. That experience has given me a valuable perspective on the advantages, challenges, and lifestyle each neighborhood offers. It also helps me understand that there is no single “best” area of Mérida. The right neighborhood depends entirely on the person, their lifestyle, priorities, needs, and what they want from their home. Even after spending my entire life here, I’m still discovering new things about Mérida. I genuinely enjoy continuing to learn about my city, its neighborhoods, its architecture, and how it continues to evolve.

I’ve also been fortunate to build my own real estate portfolio, with four properties that I currently operate as vacation rentals. They have performed exceptionally well, averaging around an 80% occupancy rate, with some ranking among the top 5% of guest-favorite properties on vacation rental platforms. I share this not simply as an accomplishment, but to highlight the value of firsthand experience. I’m not only advising clients about real estate and investment, I’m actively involved in it myself. Owning and managing these properties has given me practical insight into identifying opportunities, evaluating investment potential, understanding the vacation rental market, and knowing what makes a property attractive to both buyers and guests. That experience allows me to approach real estate from more than just a sales perspective. I understand what it means to invest my own money, evaluate risk, and turn the right property into a successful investment.

I do dedicate a significant amount of time to my investment properties, but the truth is, I genuinely enjoy every part of it. While we have an exceptional team through our sister property management company, PM23, I still like to remain personally involved, especially with guest check-ins and check-outs and making sure each property is presented exactly as it should be. Homes in Mérida’s Centro naturally require ongoing care, particularly because of their age and our unique climate. I actually enjoy keeping track of maintenance schedules, anticipating what needs attention before it becomes a problem, and taking care of all those little details that can completely change a guest’s experience. Whether it’s making sure the house looks impeccable, checking that everything is working properly, or even making sure the aroma diffusers are just right, I love the details. For me, owning an investment property isn’t simply about occupancy and returns, it’s about taking care of the property and creating an experience that makes people want to come back.

I would never call myself an interior designer, but interior design is definitely something I really enjoy. I like giving each of my properties its own personality and adding personal touches that make every home feel unique. I genuinely enjoy the entire process, from furniture shopping and finding the right artwork to discovering that one decorative piece that perfectly completes a room. For me, it’s one of the most entertaining parts of preparing a property. I believe thoughtful interior design can completely transform a guest’s experience. I don’t want someone to feel like they’re staying in just another vacation rental. I want them to immediately notice that time, thought, and attention have gone into every detail of the home. The goal is to create a space that feels distinctive, welcoming, and memorable, a home with its own character rather than simply another rental property.

One of my favorite hobbies is plants, especially collecting exotic varieties of Monsteras and Colocasias. I may not have the magical green thumb that some people seem to be born with, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from enjoying them! I love taking care of my plants, learning about the different varieties and their individual needs, and, of course, always looking for the next interesting addition to my collection. For me, a big part of the enjoyment comes from the learning process. I’m constantly discovering something new, experimenting, and slowly growing my collection. There’s always room for one more Monstera or Colocasia!

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio this far. Now I’d like to share a more personal side of my life, my favorite place to disconnect, recharge, and get ready for a new week. Most weekends, I escape to my country house in the small town of Ixil, Yucatán. It’s a very special place to me. The architecture has a character that reminds me of Valle de Bravo with a touch of Tuscany, surrounded by mature native trees that provide plenty of shade and create a surprisingly fresh and comfortable atmosphere. Of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without my little, or perhaps not so little crew! My dogs come along with me: a Dalmatian, a Chow Chow, a German Shepherd, and two Malix (yucatecos street dogs), as well as Don Miau Miau, my cat.

The atmosphere there is incredibly peaceful. I love watching the colorful birds that visit the property, especially the emblematic Toh, which happens to be my favorite bird. I can also spend hours around my fish ponds, watching the koi and simply enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings. Ixil is where I slow down, enjoy nature, and recharge. It’s my weekend escape and one of the places where I feel most at home.

And to wrap up my weekends, you’ll usually find me reading a good book or watching an episode of my all-time favorite TV show, House M.D. I’m naturally a pretty relaxed and quiet person. I really value having time to myself, being with my family, and, of course, spending time with my pets. I enjoy going out occasionally for special events or celebrations, but I’m definitely more of a peaceful-weekend kind of person. If you asked me what my perfect weekend looks like, the answer would be very simple: staying at Ixil, surrounded by nature, with my entire pack by my side. That’s my happy place.
